Apex Roofing is thrilled to announce the winners of our 2024 Veterans Roof Giveaway: Nate Jeschke from Moscow, Idaho, and Cody Cohen from Post Falls, Idaho. As part of our ongoing commitment to the community, we’re proud to recognize and support veterans who have served our country with dedication and bravery. This year, we’ve had the honor of giving back to two incredible individuals through our annual roof giveaway.
Honoring Nathan Jeschke: A Community Hero
Nate Jeschke, a Moscow, Idaho, resident and a U.S. Army veteran, is one of this year’s recipients. Nate served as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician. He defused bombs and handled dangerous explosive devices, putting his life on the line to protect others. His dedication to service was evident from the start. “I joined the Army to fix problems and save lives,” Nate said. That’s precisely what he did throughout his military career.
Nate and his family recently purchased their first home, an exciting milestone for them. But there was a challenge. Their house had a 20-year-old roof in dire need of replacement. With a new baby born on June 12, 2024, and the mounting expenses of a growing family, the cost of a new roof was beyond their reach. Then, Apex Roofing stepped in. Nate entered our Veterans Roof Giveaway, a program specifically designed to help veterans facing home improvement challenges. After reviewing over 40 entries, we were thrilled to select Nate as one of our winners.
“They aren’t often looking for notoriety; they aren’t often looking to be honored,” said Patrick Work, General Manager at Apex Roofing. “Yet they do a very honorable thing, so this is a way for us as a company to honor them, honor their service.” We are deeply grateful for Nate’s service. We’re honored to provide him and his family with a new roof that will secure the comfort and safety they deserve.

Celebrating Cody Cohen: A Marine Corps Veteran
Our second winner, Cody Cohen, is a Post Falls resident and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Cody’s military service is nothing short of remarkable. He served as a team leader during multiple tours in Iraq and spent time in Recon, where he earned two commendation medals and one medal of valor. Cody’s commitment to serving his country is unmistakable, but his dedication doesn’t end there.
At just 16 years old, Cody earned a black belt in Kenpo karate. He didn’t stop there. He turned around and taught karate classes to young students, instilling in them the same discipline and confidence he learned himself. His sister Chelsea nominated him for the giveaway. She called him “a true warrior and patriot,” someone who has always been dedicated to helping others, whether in the Marines or in his community.
Despite his efforts, Cody and his family struggled with a roof that needed significant repairs. Like many veterans, Cody has always tried to handle things independently. He worked on patching the roof when he could, but the replacement cost was overwhelming. That’s why we were honored to step in and select Cody as one of our 2024 Veterans Roof Giveaway winners. In partnership with MacArthur Co., our materials supplier, we provided Cody with a brand-new roof to protect his home and provide the peace of mind he deserves.
As with Nate, we are grateful for Cody’s service. We’re thrilled to give back to someone who has given so much to others.
